We are family—in celebration and in bereavement
While hundreds of the 21,000 Churches of the Nazarenes have sent word of great celebrations with parades, dinners, concerts, and baptisms, others wrote about heavy tropical downpours, rain leaking through holes in tents, food that did not arrive, technology failures, and late appearances of special guests. Yet, while these experiences were discouraging and frustrating, the global Church family reported that the Centennial celebration was a still a great success. (Slideshow) read more

"Do you remember the first church you ever saw?" Centennial speaker Geneva Silvernail asked. "I do," she continued. "The first church I ever saw was my mother kneeling beside a chair leading her seven children in prayer while a drunken father swore and called her names." Silvernail reminded the congregation that while they were celebrating the Centennial of the worldwide Church of the Nazarene and the 21st anniversary of the Diliman Church of the Nazarene in the Philippines, they as individuals are the Church. Doyle C. Smith, 85, passed away Saturday, January 24, in Rock Hill, South Carolina, after a long illness. He was a retired minister, evangelist, and district superintendent in the Church of the Nazarene, having served for more than 55 years. read more


Playing Pong to feed the hungry
On March 21-22, the Lifeblood youth group at Warrensburg, Missouri, First Church of the Nazarene will go live making a difference for children around the world. The group is participating in the Nazarene 30 Hour Famine, powered by World Vision. They have chosen to spend 30 hours playing the original video game Pong live online to raise awareness of and funds for world hunger. read more
